Programs

The mission of the Lions Summer Camps 2017 Program is to offer a supportive and educational environment that fosters the growth of confidence and self-esteem in sports-specific activities. With an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship, each camper will receive individual instruction from our talented Camp Directors who serve as positive role models and spirited coaches.

Activities covered at the camp include art, ceramics, basketball, baseball, and volleyball.

Lions Basketball Camp

The Basketball Camp will help you take your game to the next level! This camp for students in the 5th-12th grade will develop all of their basketball skills - shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense.  Please note: The Boys Basketball Camp will be held at the CESJDS Lower School Campus (1901 E. Jefferson St., Rockville MD). The Girls Basketball Camp will be held at the Upper School.

Boys Basketball Camp
For ages: 11-17
Session I: June 19-23, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Session II: June 26-30, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Location: Lower School Campus
Camp Director: Dave McCloud, Head Coach, Boys Varsity Basketball CESJDS
Rates$300 per session; Campers who sign up for Sessions I and II will enjoy a $50 discount, for a total of $550

Girls Basketball Camp  (CANCELLED)
For Ages: 11-17
Session I:
 June 19-23, 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: Upper School Campus

Rates$180 per session. Campers who sign up for Basketball and Volleyball (during session I) will receive a $60 discount, for a total of $300.

Lions Baseball Camp (CANCELLED)

The Lions Baseball Camp is designed for students in the 5th-12th grade who strive to improve their play on the diamond. This camp will include comprehensive skill instruction in fielding, hitting and pitching.

Lions Volleyball Camp (CANCELLED)

The Lions Volleyball Camp will offer individualized instruction for students in 5th-12th grade, of all abilities and skill levels.  Have fun while improving your game as you learn basic fundamentals, develop proper mechanics and gain game experience.  You'll get intensive work in all phases of volleyball with both group and individual drills.

Session I: June 19-23, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Session II: June 26-30, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
For Ages: 11-17
Location: Upper School Campus
Camp Director: Patrick Dudash, Head Coach, Girls Varsity and Boys Varsity Volleyball CESJDS
Rates: $180 per session; Campers who sign up for Sessions 1 and 2 will enjoy a $40 discount, for a total of $320. Campers who sign up for Basketball and Volleyball (during session I) will receive a $60 discount, for a total of $300.

Lions Art Camp (CANCELLED)

Art camp is open for students in 5th-12th grade, and will be held at the CESJDS art studio. Instruction fosters basic elements and principles of drawing and painting using mediums such as pencil, charcoal, graphite, colored pencils, and acrylic and watercolor paint.

Art Session: July 10-14, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
For Ages: 11-17

Lions Teen Ceramic Camp (CANCELLED)

In this two-week ceramic intensive, campers will learn to form works of art by hand and on the potter’s wheel as well as select and apply glazes, and experiment with surface decoration. Personalized instruction and a small class size afford a unique opportunity to explore the exciting medium of clay. The studio is fully equipped with wheels, a kiln, a wide variety of glazes and a slab roller. Instruction is geared to the level of the individual camper in a relaxed, yet creatively serious environment. All levels of experience welcome!  Campers must bring lunch. Teacher and campers will have lunch together either in the cafeteria or outside.

Two-Week Session: June 19-30, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
For Ages: 13-18
Location: Upper School Campus
Camp Director: Gretchin Gobin, CESJDS Ceramics Teacher
Rates: $750 for 2-week session; Fees include all clay, glaze and firings.
Maximum Students: 12
